Indianapolis Orchid Society Picnic

Grandmapenguin, you mentioned in another thread that you were looking for an orchid society in Indianapolis and I found this. There is a picnic on 7/27.

Here is a link to the site. This is the closest one to Indy located in Noblesville.

I also just realized there will be a showing at the Indiana state fair this year for orchids! Maybe I can enter something. I'll have to see!

Jenny you should come. I wouldn't think you would have to be a member. I asked one of the people in charge of the memberships if I could go to a meeting even I wasn't a member yet and they said I sure could. I didn't have money to sign up then and still haven't signed up but I have my form filled out! Please come that would be awesome!!! I think it is at New Vision Orchids anyways, they will have all kinds of plants there how can you resist? I am thinking should I buy more yet?

Hi ; I just found this write up on the picnic. Yes, we are going and wish you could join us Jenny. It starts at noon. Send me an e-mail if you want tthe directions given in the Newsletter.

I'm going to bake a cake also.

I am so excited and have my wallet ready to buy something.

Jenny lives northeast of where the picnic is about 45 miles or so away from it. It's funny I looked up portland in to there and where i live to there and it basically a halfway point between the two, lol! Jenny I hope you come, let me know for sure, here is the address:12661 W. SR 32,
Yorktown. Has anyone been to New Vision Orchids yet? I haven't but they had some wonderful plants at the orchid show for sale. Let us know! I think there is a meeting at noon and the the food begins around 1 or 1:30

We had a blast!!! Just wait for the pictures, lol! I think Jenny is probably busy repotting, lol! We all got some plants! And good pictures!

I got all the dends repotted and bathed and the cycnoches too so far. I am doing the phal and bifrenaria tomarrow, lol! I ran out of cinnamon recipe

I knew I should have stopped on the way home for more! What was the name of the keikis from your dend? I can't remember, lol! I have a bottle of Safers 3 in 1 I just got a few weeks but haven't used before so I think I'll just wait until I get more cinnamon extract tomorrow.

We came, we saw, and my wallet conquered!!! OMG !!! Me, Kid-a (Kortney), and Grandmapenguin (Terry) had a blast!!!

Russ Vernon, owner or New Vision Orchids and also an AOS judge held the picnic at his place. The Greenhouse was ginormous!

Yeah, I could have died there a happy camper. The one side was where all the cool growers were located and the other side the warm growers. Unbelievable. The tables were on rolling racks and filled to the hilt with orchids.

We got to meet new people and all three of us joined the society.

They even had an auction and we got a few of those plants as well.

But my best pic of them all was the Paph (YES,,,PAPH!) that I bought.

I got St. Swithin. I love it, love the look of it, and broke down and bought it.

I'll just have to get the other two later.

The last two pics are from the same plant!!! Can you believe that the leaves off that Phal were only the size of a dime and a quarter?!!!
