| We visited on a quiet January day...probably one of their quietest all year. I had not been since childhood when going to Longwood was one of my favorite memories...as my Dad used to sing the lead parts in their musicals. Even on a quiet gray day it did not dissappoint. We bought a family pass for the year and plan to make ourselves make the hour and 1/2 trip several times to see all the seasons. The conservatory was amazing even in Jan. and their was a room in it that had the walls covered in orchids! Hope to go to the orchid event...my daughter and i have been getting hooked on them! I took a lot of pictures in the orchid room that are in my sons camera...I'll try to figure out how to post some when he gets home for spring break this week... |

| Longwood Gardens is still etched firmly in my mind and I haven't been there for over 30 years. As a teenager, I would go there with dates, lived in West Chester. There couldn't be a gas price too steep to enjoy the orchid fest there. Absolutely magnificent.... really. |

| The large tent is full of orchid venders and was very busy in the early afternoon. But here's the best tip...in case you can't go this weekend but maybe next. The event lasts only until tomorrow...but a few volunteers (they have the sweetest volunteers everywhere to help you) told me that next Sat. (beginning 9 am) they will be selling all of the hundreds (thousands???) of orchids that they purchased and planted everywhere in the conservatory for the show for relativley cheap! The lunch restaurant which is lovely will probably be much less busy than today as well. Good luck! |

| I went to the event and it was great I will post some pic I took and the plants I got(some nice plants). The trick to this event if you want to buy plants is to get there by 9am and go directly to the sale tent only about a dozen people their so you can take your time looking around. By the afternoon it’s a mob and hard to walk around.
