| Denver Orchid Show & Sale |
| ||||
| Vivienne, I am so envious of your attending the show. I haven't been back to Denver in several years. I still have a few friends that I was stationed with in the Army at Fitzsimmons that I still keep in touch with there. Stop by and visit with Glenn Decker from Piping Rock. I was suppose to visit Glenn this week, but had to postpone my visit since he was attending the show there. He is a great person and grows some awsome orchids. Can't wait to hear about the show and see some pics. Have a great time!!! |

| And Now For Some Pictures Okay, first off, I had a great time getting to know my fellow OS members a little better. We car pooled in 3 cars and had a blast setting up our display! About an hour or two into the setup we cracked open the wine... so pardon some of the slightly blurry pics. Oops. Here are pics of some of the displays. The first pic is our Colorado Springs Orchid Society display. |

| More Pics Here are pics of various species and hybrids that caught my eye... or that came out clearly. LOL #1 - a display of Paphs #2 - Paphiopedilum caudatum #3 - lots of ghost orchids for sale #4 - a very tall Ascocenda (about 4-5' tall) #5 - Vanda sanderianum |
| ||||
| Worthy of it's own section of pics... #1 - The Piping Rock display #2 - Paph. henryianum (I think I spelled that wrong) #3 - Paph. spicerianum (I WANT ONE!) Note the giant exhibition Paph in the middle of pic#1 is Paph. Lost Sailor. It was bigger than my hand!! |
| ||||
| And finally... my purchases. Note - don't go shopping for orchids at an orchid show after you've been drinking. Amesiella monticola (yes that is spelled correctly) Sarcoglottis sceptrodes Neofinetia falcata - I FINALLY got one! Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom Paph. niveum Paph. Armeni White - which looks like it will double bloom! I sure can't wait until they bloom!!! |
| ||||
| LOL...you should've had more to drink. Those purchases weren't enough, Vivienne. I have one of those Amesiella monticola and can hardly wait for it to bloom. Nice additions you have there.

| Oh your society display is lovely, and it is terrific to see what's being shown halfway across the country... almost like being able to attend. THANKS! I just love the display that is all paphs! And you are so brave to buy all non-blooming plants... a mark of the expert. Congrats on your lovely new 'chids... may they prosper and multiply!

| arleneg - well I emptied my pockets that's for sure. LOL You and I have a knack of getting odd plants. First the Comparettia and now our Amesiella! My Comparettia bloomed one bloom thanks to the cat who ate the rest... and it's now branching off a new spike. Yippee! And the Amesiella has 2 strong spikes on it. Yippee Yippee. |

| Vivienne, SO glad you had a great time. The pics are great and I love your new additions. Great that you had a chance to meet Glenn and from his pic display, he didn't disappoint. I was stationed at Fitzsimmons from 1968- 1970. Long time ago. I went back to visit my friends about 12 years ago. Place had really changed. I worked in the Bioenergetics lab. We did research on vitamin deficiencies in different climatic conditions. Sure do miss Denver. I had a great time there!! Post some pics when your new 'chids are in bloom. |

| arleneg - there are 4 pbulbs, if one can even call them that, more like roots and leaves. Either way - there are 4 sets of leaves on mine. Have yours ever lost leaves? Mine too slowed down the spike growth with the cooler temps. Tobi and fred - it was a wonderful time! |
