I just learned of this upcoming orchid show and sale in Southern California. I'd love to go but... With the Pacific Orchid Expo the weekend after and me being 300+ miles away (this means I have to stay one night at a hotel), I'd be broke by then.

I've made the last two of these. Great shows. I drive all the way from Arizona, 400 miles, but I have a relative I stay with in LA.

If I have a relative to stay with, I'd drive 300 miles and save $80-100/night.

Well, you have to understand that Arizona is an orchid waste land. There are a couple of commercial Phals growers, but not really big time operations, I suspect the owners have day jobs, and I am not into Phals much anyway, and it just would never be enough for a species addict.

Oh, ok. That's understandable.

I'm finding myself attracted to species, especially minis, more so than the 'standard' orchids. I saw a few more that I want, but will wait until the weather warms up a little bit before I order/buy a few more.
