Adding photos from another web site into your messages

There have been a number of posting issues with the gallery. Dave has been working on them. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

For anyone who whats to place a photo in their question and has the photo on another web site you can use this code

---<img src="http://www.orchidgeeks.com/gallery/f...variations.jpg" alt="Blc. Golden Tang 4 color variations" />---

If you do not use the three dashes in the code --- The photo will appear in the post. The three --- at the front and back are here to prevent the photo from displaying so that you can see the code. If you notice the http code became an active hyperlink and the flower displays if you click on the address.

You can get the code off another site by right clicking on the photo and selecting properties. It will display the http code. copy it into the code between the quotation marks.
<img src=" " />

Without this code it becomes an active hyperlink that can display by clicking on it, but so many hackers are using hyperlinks to go phishing many people will not use them. It also looks better when you can read straight down without additional screens.

That is the way this forum displays the destination of a hyperlink that has been shortened, as expressed by the ... in the address.

Thank you for the question as I am sure it could confused others as well.

Actually if anyone pastes the http code copied by right clicking on an INTERNET photo and pastes it between the " " in the code <img src=" " />
marks it will code correctly.

I probably should have skipped the example, it does more harm then good.

I was just looking through these old posts and ran across this thread, though I'd add my $.02.

I think that the easiest way to add photos from a website is by using the UBB tag (maybe you covered this in another thread). It's the easiest to remember and fastest to type, for me.

It goes like this:

So, for example, [img*]http://www.website.com/picture.jpg[/img]

*I added the "*" to the tag so that this would appear as code and not try to display a photo , don't put it in when you want to post a photo!

One has to be very careful adding pics from other web sites as most are copyrighted.

Links to the sites are fine

Very true... I meant from links to their OWN websites or photo galleries! Lots of people have image shack or photobucket accounts, or that sort of thing, where they upload photos... that was what I really had in mind.

My apologies for any confusion

Yep I also have an Image Host account with photobucket

Just a reminder that if you wish to add one of your own images that has been uploaded into an image host you can also add the IMG Code to a text post while you are typing.
Just click on the IMG Code under the uploaded pic it will say copied then once you are doing a post right click and then select paste that will add the IMG Code only no pic will be seen until you click preview.
