how do I remove the background? How can I remove the background in a picture I have taken. I would like to use a black or other color popping background to show off the blooms. Because of the nature of the flowers I am unable to place a cloth or paper background behind the blooms. I am using one of my Plumeria blooms as an example. What I want to do is to remove everything but the blooms. Any suggestions? Andi

I wanted to remove the background because it deters from the beauty of the blossom. The Aztec Gold is a wonderful plumeria to have both for its beauty and its scent. The scent is of fresh sliced peaches that will make your mouth water. I am going to try to get a few shots tonight and see if the darkness will enhance picture. Andi

Background removal. You can also remove backgrounds with Paint Shop Pro 7 which you will probably be able to buy on EBay cheaply simply because it is and old programme. I did the carnation in the thumbnail with that programme. Haven't needed to do my orchid because I can move them to a neutral background. Last edited by Ben Grader; 08-01-2007 at 05:45 AM.

| Ogus, trouble is, most people on this forum have point n shoots so have little d of f control. I have been running Photo 101 lesson s for nearly 12 months and I must say, this is an old thread and this very topic was discussed at length and several options were given to them, eg flash at night, photographing the plant against the sky, holding a black or blue sheet behind the plant, and finally software options. Lovely by the way. I personally have bought a light tent from www.ezcube.com, the 30" model, and it is excellent. It folds up to a tiny package which makes it easy to take in the field to photograph wild native orchids.

Thanks Sea_Sun88. I really need to get the step ladder out and take pictures of the others that are blooming. I think I have a total of 8 in bloom which is quite a feat in North East Arkansas. I am now planning for the upheaval of my house when its time to bring all the tropicals in. These guys take over 2 bedrooms and part of the living room.
