| I've been kind of looking too. Haven't narrowed it down to specific models yet, but I think it'll be a Cannon, Pentax or Nikon, with Cannon in the lead. I don't want to spend much more than 250 either. Tony

I have used Canon cameras for years and am VERY happy with them. That being said, any of the top three would probably do(Canon, Olympus, Nikon). I take 90% of my close ups with a Canon point and shoot but it is over both your price limits. It's a Canon Power Shot 640. Since its a few years old I am sure there are more up to date versions. On the Macro setting it will get very close to objects. It has a good lens and can take a lickin. I carry it around in my truck and it gets bounced around and I occasionally drop it. Still works like a charm. Attached are a few pictures I have taken with it.
