Proposal for a book

Hi everybody, i was checking the new iphoto 09 features and how the new printed Books can have along the photos and text... maps.
So i got this idea... as there are a lot of photo contest every months and off course everyone of us love orchids and photos of them....

-How about we create a photo book?
It could be compiled of photos of different spiecies from different forumites along their mark on the map. Maybe not camera shy forumites could also pose with their photo and wrote a few words like a profile, or how they got into Orchids, care tips etc.

Getting it published in this economy would be difficult; not to mention divvying up the the photo rights and royalties among so many countries (different laws for each).

well it's not about publishing, you just put your photos in iPhoto and Apple prints and ships it to you. It's just a photobook not a publishing project. Regarding legal issues, if there is concent of each photographer on using his/her Orchid pictures i don;t see it requiring excess time or effort.

Good to know Apple is so popular around the word!! My husband helped write those apps!!

Well we (mac users) are still a small minority over here and also don't get all of the services but we are loyal.
I hope your husband is not the handsom engineer responsible for imovie after scuba diving... you would have a lot of envy from women

Sounds like a neat idea, but there are still quite a few members that don't have iPod. (me )

iPhoto and Photobooks are not iPod applications; iPhoto may be available for PCs but I'm not sure since I don't do Windows . If anyone wants a Photobook but doesn't have iPhoto, they can ask one of us Mac users (me, Anton, Kevin - I'm sure there are others) to make one up and get the pricing for ya.

Why not make it a publishing project? I'm not sure how to go about the legal issues of the photo rights, but perhaps instead of divvying up the royalties to the contributors perhaps donate the royalties to a certain agreed upon organization? *shrug* Just an idea?

I like the idea of the royalties going to an organization. Maybe OrchidGeeks could use the extra money. There have been a lot of upgrades and server changes over the last year that were not free. I know Jenny has really helped with the pens and calendars, but this could be one more to help improve our site.
