| Contacts & Friends The only forum that I belong to is the Orchidgeeks forum; therefore, I'm not exactly a whiz kid at forum features. I've read the FAQ info, but don't understand the purpose of "Contacts & Friends" section. Is this frills or is this section to eventually replace our Membership list and P.M. features? At the risk of sounding stupid, why would I post a message to a friend in the friends section, rather than just send a PM? I'm missing something. Good thing I don't have a "MySpace memberhip. Can someone enlighten me? |

| it's kind of like a public message I guess. you can drop a comment to that person for everyone to see that will be on their profile instead of inside a thread. Me likes!

| I'm still searching for enlightenment here. Sharyn has posed a good question regarding a forum function - maybe one of the whiz kids/moderators could provide an answer. My computer savvy is pretty much confined to the delete button. _______________________ E-Jag |

| After much a-do and countless trys, I finally was able to accept some friends requests. Now, that's not to say that I know how to ASK for friends ---- just the fact that by countless manuevers, I was able to add a few friends. I haven't the slightest idea of how to "request a friend." In other words, I haven't the faintest clue from hell what I'm doing, or even why! Now, what happens when someone clicks on your "thingy" and the whole world knows that you have NO FRIENDS! So sad.............. I would bet that half of this forum is over 40. (We have more money for our hobby Come on you little whiz kids, help us out! We old foggies need help. We need to know what we're doing, how to do it, and why we're doing it. ![]() |

| Poor didums........... ![]() Sharyn, go to your "Edit Profile" and on the left is a list called "Your Control Panel", go down to "Networking" and click on "Contacts & Friends". There should be a window in the middle that will have the icons of people who have asked you to be their friends. In the "Add a Member to Your List..." , click on either "Add Contact" or "Add Friend" you just type their screen name and a list of similar names appears, chose the one you want, click on it, then click on either "Add Contact" or "Add Friend" and bob's your aunty. All you do then is wait for a reply.

| Anton: I wish it were that simple. Obviously, it's working for some of you, but not for me. When I try this task, I get the following message: "You do not have permission to perform this action. Please refresh the page and login before trying again." Add a Member to Your List... It doesn't matter if I log-in and refresh the page a hundred times, I get the same message. Next suggestion ![]() |

| Ok, Uncle, Uncle. I give up. I believe I will be friendless! This is worse than a root canal. I must ask myself: "Self, do you really need to have friends?" |

| Sage advice!!! (And I'm not just saying that because my husband is a software engineer over there, either.)

When that person gets a 'friend' request, they can accept it by clicking it and 'update' to accept all changes et voila! a 'friend' appears on the profile. And I'm 43 ... been using these suckers for longer than I care to admit ... (25+ years) and no kids. Had myself childproofed - twice!!

| Sharyn, If you click on anyones' name in a thread or where ever..., It will bring up that person's profile. There's a place where it says befriend "that person"-click on that and it will ask if you want to add to contacts & friends. click yes. If the person on the other end of it wants, they can accept- then It's a done deal. I'm by NO MEANS computer savvy. I have children (24, 20, 20) that have been on all sorts of forums etc.-

| I agree! I have got one a year ago for home, I did not need anyone to install it and I am not a queen of computing! Even my mum bought one after I did and she is 56 and did not need any help to install it ! |
