I like this idea Tom. Why don't we start this off. Perhaps even include years and indoor/outdoor/greenhouse?? Orchids Growing - Phalaenopsis - Neofinetia/Ascofinetia - Paphs & Phrags - Cattleya - Oncidium alliance - Some assorted others - Ansellia, Coelogyne, Pleurothallids

I don't know if this Idea will work as we all have different Growing Conditions the idea sounds good but Tom you may be able to grow orchids with your conditions that I can not grow because of my conditions or visa versa. another thing a members with hundreds of orchids or thousands may not have the time to list each one and answer each question about each orchid. Having said that I have added a Poll to your Idea.

Hi Fred! I see your point. I doubt anyone has my growing conditions - no side windows, temps, humidity, etc. Everyone's conditions are vastly different in so many ways. Having said that, it would be nice to know who the Cattleya folks are... they can still lend opinions. And the Paph folks , etc. I also think Tom meant more of a general list. I have over 100 orchids but my list is only 6 lines... more of a genera type list than an individual plant list. At least that was the impression I got from Tom's post. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a great idea!! I agree that posting our lists in the threads would be disorganized but would be happy with wiki pages as articuno75 mentioned or a section in our profile as Andrew mentioned. Grow lists offer excellent user provided content that will help direct search engine traffic to these forums when people do internet searches for specific orchids. What I would like to see is the following... 1. The member's latitude and elevation 2. Lowest and highest average temperature 3. Outdoor growing list 4. Indoor growing list 5. RIP list 6. How long the person has been growing each orchid for

It was just a thought. We could have a single post each, and edit it when adding new orchids. We would each have our own topic so it wouldnt be a list of lists. The profile one sounds good. I can understand some people with many orchids would have a lot of work, but most will probably have databases already to manage their orchids and hopefully transferring it wouldnt be too tricky. I can understand there are many pitfalls though.

Tom if we had the new section you wont be able to edit one would have to update the new orchids with a new post I am not willing to change the edit time that is set for the forum just for a new section. I am not saying your idea is a bad thought not at all that is why I set up the poll.
