New Section

Hi members
I have just added a new section to the forum called The venting place
the venting place can be found in the forum "The Orchid Geeks" just under the "General Chat" section.
Even though it is a venting section please moderate yourself when posting.

It may open up a can of worms Anton that is why I asked the members to Moderate themselves.
The forum staff also Moderate that section.
the same rules for the site apply in that section also.
If any member steps out of line or a post is reported action can and will taken.

As this new section has caused some bad feeling toward some members I have decided to Delete the Off Topic Venting Forum.

I am sure it is a very good decision NOT to create that section.

Let the members have their say -good or bad- in the general section and I am confident that they are capable of exercising good judgement. Beyond that ,controls can be placed by the moderators themselves.

Then,still beyond that, comes, of course, the 'punishment' phase

Punishment? Punishment?! Hey, I couldn't log on to the forum for over a day, and it kept asking me if I wanted to download. That's punishment enough!

I had better also say that my reason for Deleting the section was based upon
it was creating negativity for the forum
I would very much like to keep the forum as one big happy family
I blame myself here for adding the new section
I apologize to you all for that

I should have known better as that same subject came up some time ago
but it wont happen again

we are all different and thats what make the world go around.

It's OK Fred. I guess we'd be better off just talking about orchids. After all, thats what brought us all together. I, for one, need all the orchid geek help I can get! I really didn't mind reading about each others personal lives, though. It seemed to make you guys more real. Oh well, its better to rejoice over our blooming orchids than to cry over our personal tragedies.

You don't have to apologise. Just pat yourself on the back.

You can't be blamed for trying to accomodate a small section of our membership who may want to vent their anger/frustration somewhere exclusive.No one could envisage the possible pitfalls that would arise somewhere down the road.

A good thought and a good subsequent action.

When you started the section, I told myself – ‘The Pandora Box’ has opened. Nevertheless I gave the section a try & see what happen next & yes it did cause unhappiness to a few of the members. It is not easy for someone to accept the term – We Agree to Disagree.

But whatever it is, you do not have to blame yourself Fred. You were brave enough to start the section & I believe you knew the pitfalls & it was braver to close it after what had happened.

It was s good place for someone to ‘vent’ though.

Now lets go back to ORCHIDS.

I actually thought the section was a good idea that got shall we say, taken out of context. In this busy world sometimes a person needs to express their feelings, and the section could have been a great place to send that out, and let it go (also to maybe get some much needed commiseration). I am sorry to see that it turned into more of a bone of contention. Thanks for the effort and thought in starting the new section. And yes, now back to orchids.
