Tapatalk

Now that I have a smartphone, I have found it very convenient to access some forums via the subject app.

It auto-logs you in, reformats the text for easy reading, including the ability to view inline pictures really well, and has tabs for new, participating, and all threads to make life simple.

I think it would be a great addition to the forum.

I keep seeing this offered when I log into "another forum" but I didn't know what it was. That good huh?

Yep.

I was wary, but got an urge to buy it (based upon others' recommendations and an extra glass or two of wine Thanksgiving day), and am VERY glad I did. If you access via a smartphone, it's definitely the way to go.

If my web host would permit me to upgrade their forum software to a newer version, I'd use the plugin on the S/H Forum, too.

Thought I'd bump this up as further encouragement.

I just upgraded my own forum to the newest version, and that allowed me to implement Tapatalk - by simply uploading a directory of files and adding one line to a template. Easy, Free, helps users with iPhone, Blackberry, or Android devices access the forum while away from their computers!

A mobile version of this site would certainly be helpful. It's a bit cumbersome to read, though doable, on a smartphone.
Interesting suggestion Ray, thanks!
:edit:
Though the cheap part of me says unf to an app for 2.99. All of my downloaded apps are free.
I wonder if there is a decent free client of this.

Haha, that sounds really cool, but if I could easily access the forum from my 'droid, I might never get anything done!

I'm with you on the app price, but encouragement by others and an extra glass of wine (or two) led to my purchase of it - and I'm glad I did.

Tapatalk reformats the text, making it really easy to read, and the attached images are displayed separately, making it nice.

I have Verizon DROID2 Global and this would be great. Would have no problem paying the 2.99 for the app as I have unlimited data package.

What is the name of the app?

My temporarily solution was to download xscope, which is a different browser. It displays websites much better (and much faster) than the default browser.

So until the forum gets updated for tapatalk, this will have to do!

I know this is an old thread, but was Tapatalk implemented in this forum yet? Most forums out there have already implemented this and it's a major thing for accessing forums on the go, no doubts the best mobile solution. Can the admins please allow for us to access OrchidGeeks from Tapatalk?

Synda,

If you have an iPhone, Android or Blackberry, Tapatalk allows you to easily access forums in a format much better than viewing it in a micro-browser. I believe there is even I hi-def version for iPads.

I do have an iphone but am not real savvy when it comes to this stuff. I would have to see someone using it to understand it I think.

Just got the notification that Tapatalk is available, and since I already had it skipped over to take a peek. Only problem I see is that I couldn't find any of the threads for Species and Hybrid plants that are posted here.

So I have downloaded the app and will say I like it so far. So much easier to read on my iPhone.

When it's a free download, then maybe I'll get it. STill don't get how it will make things easier.

It's very practical. Really a better forum experience.

As far as not being free, the app is only 2 bucks. That's not even the cost of a meal at McDonald's. Anyone can afford it, besides it's only fair that developers get paid like everyone else.

It's $2.99 and it's not a question of not being able to afford it. Why pay for something I can do right here at my computer for free. Also, I don't eat at McDonalds.

Synda, for someone who stays at home, I absolutely agree.

However, for folks who travel and only have a mobile device, it's great.

There is no sense in putting down stuff that isn't applicable to you in the first place.

I downloaded the free version about a year ago and love it. But anyone know the difference between the paid and the free version? It keeps asking me to buy it, but I don't see the point since it works just fine as is.

Ohhhh, that's why they keep asking me to pay, lol... Wider if they will change the platform soon so I can no longer use the free though. Probably will, but until then I will enjoy as you recommend! LOL...
