Picture posting method

Clearly, some people are still being successful in posting pictures. I have always done this by uploading to the gallery and then putting the thumbnails into my posts. This method is no longer working.

What is a more successful method at this time

Apparently uploading to an outside source (facebook, photobucket, flicker, etc.) that you have set on public availablity and linking it. They've had enough comments and complaints about the issue and don't seem to want to fix it, so what other alternatives are there?

I've been using photobucket without any problems, and the pics are really big. I usually resize them a little smaller before posting.

Its an online picture storage site (for lack of a better explanation.) Its free, all you have to do is go to Photobucket.com and register. You can upload your pictures from a camera or your cell phone, create albums, publish your pics to your blog, Facebook, etc.

When you want to post a picture on this site, you would upload it, resize it if you wish, then click on the [IMG]...[IMG], right click when its selected and choose 'copy'. Come back here and left click on your post and choose 'paste'. Easy as pie!

PM me if you need help.

Thanks for the clear explanation, BGGraham1. I haven't used photobucket for a couple of years, and I guess I'd forgotten about it. I'll have to give it a try. I've been using the Photo Gallery here to keep track of my collection, such as it is, and I'll be sad if I can't do that any more.

No problem! I like the fact that I can go through my album there and see the difference between my 'chids as they grow. Plus, the pics come out bigger and better when you post 'em.

Is there a moble version of this for us using cell phone internet to do our pics ? We can't right click on the phone. If so do you have to have in on your pc and do it from pc to moble cell. Or can you skip the pc part ? I rarely am around muy pc is why I ask so its like I don't have one just internet on my cell(blackberry)

I just uploaded a photo from my phone to my MobileMe account. It's sort of a hack to get the URL, though...

testing attachment function. Whoo Hoo--it worked! These are duplicate pics from a thread in the Cultivation forum, seedling that I recently potted up. Is it just the Photo Gallery that is still a problem?

Hi all just to let you know the picture uploading has been fixed.
if one still had any problems please resize your photos to make them smaller.
not just by cropping the photo but by reducing the pixels as well
example my camera takes photos at 300 pixels when I want to share with the forum I reduce the pixels to 100.
then upload without any problems.

Hmmm. I'm not exactly sure what you mean, Fred, when you say "100 pixels". The pictures I have tried to upload to the Gallery are 640 x 480 pixels, in the neighborhood of 80 Kb per picture, which is a standard e-mail sharing size. Are you saying that this is too large?

As recently as yesterday, the Gallery was not working correctly: When I tried to upload, I got a message that a string was too long, then it said that the picture had uploaded. The picture that showed in the Gallery was a duplicate of the last one I uploaded successfully, not the current one. When I clicked on it, though, the proper picture was displayed. I can see that this is happening to others also, as people have several duplicate pictures showing that are different from what the label says and what is displayed after clicking.

I hope this can be fixed; I miss being able to keep track in the Gallery!
