Naples Nights 7/13/08

She finally opened! I'm really pleased with her, since she wasn't in spike when I got her.

Patti, She's gorgeous. And you got a great shot of the lip!! What time of day was it that you got a shot that looks like an all pink flower? How delicate and fragile it looks...

An especially big congratulations since none of my control plants have produced a flower.

These Phals and I believe all Phals need consistent water. Letting them totally dry seems to set them back weeks.

Mine is not even close to spiking. It seems to just be concentrating on letting out roots. It is mounted so it doesn't have that consistent moisture.

Patti: Your flower is GREAT! It's such a pretty delicate color. I found that mine is definitely a root instead of a spike. I'll post a pic of the root when I have time - pretty odd - starts out as purple, purple, purple, and then turns a velum color near the base of the plant and continues to grow out.

I'm so glad you're our first with a bloom. Congrats!

Thanks! All of your comments are truly appreciated! Patlee, I took all three pictures at the same time- early morning. The 3rd one I took with the light coming from the back. I was just experimenting. Damien & Sharyn, new growth is GOOD! Mine didn't get that. Yours will be stronger and better for the extra growth. Damien, I thought yours bloomed already. (?) April & Christina, thanks for the cheers!

The geeks make little moments like this really worthwhile.
