I like how the spike is spiraling upward. That's neat looking !

Thanks, all! Jenny- I did that on purpose to give it a little stability. I just turned it a little every few days in the same direction. The spike kept growing towards the window. I haven't tied it to the stake yet. I'm really looking forward to this .

Oh! that's a good idea. It also would keep the spike from getting to tall. At first, I thought you had a subspike on an old spike I look forward to seeing it in bloom!

Thanks! I'm really happy these days with Naples, my Neo, and a Tolumnia (Robsan 'Orchid World' AM/AOS x Rdcdm Rose Ganaucheau 'Hackneau' HCC/AOS), all in spike right now. Something to look forward to.

Thanks, evagentry! The blooms are a shaded pink I believe. (from the pictures I've seen) This will be the first time blooming for me!

Damien, How's yours doing? Is it still in bloom? I'm wondering how long the blooms will last.

Patti: I've been following your thread and watching the progress. My Naples night started a new leaf recently and then I saw a purple growth like yours. First started as a purple bump and now is about 1/2 inch. There's no green on the tip, so I don't think it's a root, although some of the roots are very pink. I really think it's a spike - at least I hope so.

Can't wait to see yours bloom.

oooooo, Sharyn! I sure hope so! Is it curving up, or down? I'll cross my fingers that it's a spike.

LOL Patti. It's growing sideways. I'm pretty sure it's a root. Now about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long, dark purple, except a velum color at the base of the plant (which was a purple nub to start). It's odd, but it keeps growing out purple, purple, purple.

Cool! Mine hasn't grown roots yet, so I can't say what color mine are. I'll post a picture in a new thread tonight.
