Are we looking at that tiny slit over the bottom leaf? If so, that is the earliest I think anyone has tried to call a spike - yowser, I'm impressed if it is..........

Thanks, Bunny! I know that it's tiny, but it wasn't there a few days ago, so I'm hoping. Mayers- That's why I'm still using a question mark!

I agree with you, Al- The leaves are as beautiful as some blooms that I've seen! I can't wait for the blooms.

I got the same looking nub, but it hasn't moved since I noticed it. Patti, you're growing this one under the lights too, right?

It looks like a spike to me. Roots normally have green tips and these plants do not produce as many air roots as other Phals.

Who knew that one little bump would cause such a stir! digitalgate.. You may be right, but I don't think so...It's still growing, and up! Viv- I really think it's a spike... I'm sending spike vibes your way! Jenny- This one I've been growing in my kitchen window. It faces south, but it's right behind a Catt, so it gets dappled sun. Al- The fact that it keeps growing pointing up, and the roots that I've had on Phals, grow down, I really think it's a spike. Time will tell. I'll post another picture this weekend. It's not much bigger, but .... Jerry- Thanks, I love this plant! I love the Tolumnia that you sent, too. It's got several blossoms on it!

I've almost changed my mind, think you may be right. I'm used to the "mitten shap" on a spike. Maybe it's just a bit to early to see that. Either way, good growing! Al |

6/27/08- The buds are getting bigger! I'm really looking forward to this dolly blooming. The pictures were taken on my grow-cart in the basement. I did that just for the light. It usually grows up in my kitchen south window. It's back a bit from the window, behind a Catt.
