| Gee, that's what it looks like when all the leaves are stretched out!

| Yeah, it's the best looking plant in the bunch, wasn't scrunched at all. I am expecting great things from my little Phal! The Paph is: Paph. Kolopakingii variety topperi. I wanted the Paph. delanti (sp??? something like that) but Jerry didn't have anymore. He suggested this one and I thought it looked cool.

| A lovely piece of cork bark changed my mind and I decided to mount my Phal Naples Night. It will hang with the leaves pointed downward.

| That is a really good looking mount job! Way neater than potting it. Good job Connie.

| When mounting Phals you should consider that in nature the roots are on the top and the plant hangs down from there. The leaves then hang naturally. They really should not flop down, which you mistakenly think is correct because it is seen that way so often. When they hang down the leaves will tend to offset a half leaf from each other resulting in a spiral growing habit. Each leaf half protects and half exposes the leaf below it. I have one mounted as a control plant in addition to the potted plants. What will happen if you keep this one as shown in the photo, is that the plant will grow out-wards and then down.

| Jerry read my post again - it is 'upsidedown' for picture taking purposes. It will hang with the roots on top and the leaves pointed to the ground.

| It's doing great Jenny; thanks for asking! The leaves are staying firm but I don't have any sign of a spike yet. I think having it on cork bark sets off it's beautiful leaves too.

| I mounted one of them as a control (mounted on grapevine hanging down) and it could be a silk plant for what little it is doing. I recently moved it into the daily sprinkler system and will see if the extra water helps. (15 minutes a day)

| Just another uneventful update! My Naples Night is still mounted and putting out some very healthy roots, leaves are still beautiful. No sign of a spike just yet but I'm happy with it's vigor and hoping for a spike this winter. Our nights are just beginning to cool (go away heat wave!) so I am leaving the window of my orchid room open at night for a cool down.

| I have roots all over mine and it's now into this berserko world growth habit. Did yours go through a slight dormant period?

| Yes it definately did sulk a little after mounting, but it was the time of year for sulking anyway. It has always been healthy and firm.
