Rose Garden

As some of you might remember, I do volunteer work in a large rose garden. Today we received the following letter and are very proud to have been picked by this group. The rose garden has approx. 4500 roses and approx. 3500 different varieties. Some varieties we have were discovered in the
1500's. We consider it a botanical collection rather than a "Garden". Any way I am just proud as punch & am spreading the news.

On behalf of the Great Rosarians of the World steering committee I am
pleased to inform you that we have selected the San Jose Heritage
Rose Garden as the first inductee into the Great Rosarians of the
World Rose Garden Hall of Fame.

We asked our former GROW honorees to make the nominations and the
steering committee made the final decision. The vote for SJHRG was
unanimous.

I hope to make arrangements to make a presentation at the SJHRG the
Monday after the Celebration of Roses on May 18th. It would be
something I would hope we could invite the local press and possibly TV
too and help inform a broader audience of the importance of this
collection and your work.

Congratulations!!! I would be proud too to receive such an honor. Roses are one of my favorite flowers. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled just in case I see something on TV about it. I really need to visit this rose/botanical collection one of these days.
