What is this plant?

Does anyone know what kind of plant this is?
If you know how to take care of it, that would be great, too.

That is a dracaena, commonly called a corn plant. It likes a lot of bright, indirect light and doesn't like to dry out completely. Keep slightly moist. It will get pretty tall. Makes a good house plant. Fertilize year 'round with any balanced fertilizer.

Don't worry. You wouldn't be able to kill it if you wanted to.

That's the truth. I have one of these as well. I think it sat in a dark hall way without water for about 4 months before I took over its care. They are surprisingly tough plants!

I have heard them called a corn plant too, but I think it's strange because I don't know why it's nicknamed that. They are nice plants though and very cute.

I gave one of these to my mother in law because they are indestructible.
the only other plants she has ever had sucess with are dendrobiums and crown of thorns. its been 7 months and its still going strong, even with the dogs attempting to use it as a chew toy LOL

yup thats a Dracena- variety known as corn plant, i have about 5 different varieties of dracena......they are a favorite of mine because they are hardy and FAST growing ( if giving favorable conditions......that being said....

bright diffuse light seems to be prefered, they are tolerant of lower light locations but will take their time with new growth. As for new growth....on yours you will get leaves out from the top crowns and because there are the large trunks you could also get new sprouts out of the side.

they do not like to have damp toes- i nearly killed mine- quick yellowing leaves are bad but as long there a couple of good ones they can be recovered. i let the soil become fairly dry before watering again-as long as there is good drainage you shouldn't have a problem.

now all yours needs is a little plant friend to hang out on the bare side of the pot......maybe an orchid...or two (in pots on stones above the dirt)......or if you'd like another plant that is un-kill-able. Try a Pothos Vine.....1-2 new leaves per vine per month during active growth almost any part of the plant will grow roots if put in water (i find a cutting vine with 3-6 leaves most successful).....they can be left in plain water for months (cuttings), and can be let dryout with minimal leaf loss, let tolerate all but extreme light levels......plus you can get a marbled leaf variety that is really pretty

Just to be a little more specific I believe that it is called Dracena massangeana. I may have the spelling wrong but I think thats it.
