help with ID of this plant

I haven't the faintest idea what this plant is - the person I bought it from was no help either - but the flowers were stunning and the price was right. It's my first deviation from orchids since I started buying plants two years ago. Help with an ID and any culture suggestions would be much appreciated.

That is interesting, I have no idea what it is though. The leaves sort of look like an aloe or agave, but the flowers don't match either I don't think.

Thats really a pretty plant.
The leaves sort of remind me of an aloe. But I dont think that Aloe has flowers like that.
But whatever it is, its pretty.

Ah hah! Thanks, M4E. I found a matching photo by the common name "Star of Bethlehem".

My knowledge of taxonomy is nominal; Ornithogalum sp. means "a species of Ornithogalum", right, not a species in particular?

Thanks,

Dan

Yeah people use that when they know the genus but not the species

I was going to say I've seen this plant in several gardening sites. I think it's a bulb. Couldn't tell you the name though. Good thing Aaron got it. Very pretty for a non-orchid!
