I agree with patticake, it looks really neat, like a dragon or something But alas, I don't know what it is either. I hope someone can ID it for you. I want to know what it is too.

Hi SeaSun, I believe that you have a Stapelia, it may be Stapelia variegata which is sometimes called the carrion flower as the flower smells like rotting flesh. It attracts flies for pollination purposes. Hope you like it.

Thanks so much. Lol well if the flowers do smell like rotting flesh it will be a smell that I will probably probably wont mind since I cant smell that good.
But I know my sis will not like it lol.

Does it need sun or can it be indoors.
I have mine in my room where I have my orchids and it gets a lot of light.

It sort of reminds me of my jewel orchid.
Which I almost killed and now I have little cuttings from the original plant.

I treated it like a cactus with respect to type of potting mix, and watering.
P.S. If yours gets big, and needs dividing, I'd be happy to take one off your hands ;-)
They really are quite the conversation piece at flowering time!

SeaSun, all succulents will grow in full sun and if you wish to fertilise the plant pick one with high potash content. Most of the species do well enough and do not need to be heavily fertilised. Water freely in spring and summer while the plant is growing; if it is indoors about two week intervals. No water from end of September to end of March.
WARNING. Cacti and Succulents can be just as addictive as Orchids. Take care!!

Bill

Norris when I repot it, I would gladly give you a section of the plant.

Lol bill you are right. I already have a 2 epiphyllum. One that flowers at night and one that flowers in the day but has no fragrance.

Plus this stapelia I got it at a bargain price. $$$ 3 bucks.
Its a decent size for that price.

Very unique plant. Not in to smelly flowers or the snakelike foliage but I'd love to see a picture of the blooms.

What bill said about it being addictive is true....lol!! I got as many cacti, maybe more, than orchids. But that is because I started collecting them before orchids
