Nice! I love Iris! I had to leave most of mine behind when we moved last year. I dug up a couple of pieces of rhizome, just to take a little with me. I planted them in the little garden where we rent now. They're doing great and in bud! The size pieces that I took, I'm really surprised! They didn't have time to set new roots, really since I stuck them in the ground in mid- November! I'll post pics. when they open. I'm not really sure of what ones I grabbed. I think maybe "Beverly Sills" and "Batik"-
Yours look really great!! I LOVE the yellow one, It's really fresh looking!

LOL, Long ago when I moved from my home I potted everything. (Determined I wasn't going to leave anything behind, LOL!!! even the roses!!!) Didn't leave nothing behind. LOL. I'll have to "dig" those pics up and show you. It's too hilarious to be true.

Slip that yellow is just YUM. Love Irises and Roses. A sucker for yellows.

I find these to be much more pleasing than tulips. Not quite so early to bloom, but a bit longer lasting, and then the foliage is good thru the summer.

Last spring I purchased about 8 new varieties. They won't bloom this year but maybe next.

Those are lovely!

I love the sweet fragrance of irises, too. Most of my iris are blooming now. I sometimes pick up packages of dried up rhizomes that are sold at WalMart or at garden marts and end up with some surprises--usually not what I'm expecting. (I haven't kept track of names.)

I have a few iris photos at my Photobucket site Marcia_in_PA/garden_2008 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

i've noticed this seems to be a very good year for irises around here; maybe it was the wet spring..?

speaking of irises....my mom gave me a few divisions of hers, and since I rent and dont have anywhere to plant them in the ground, i have them in a large container. Will they grow in a large container?

Should do, they don't like to be planted too deep and like full sun. Mine opened this week

We have a stream in our back yard that is lined with day lilies and irises. We grow several different kinds: Japanese iris, Louisianna iris, the familiar bearded iris, but one of out favorites is the Siberian iris, Caesar's Brother. Hope you like it as much as we do...

Love all the iris photos! I'll try and take a few photos of mine before I leave for another race weekend.

Keep the iris photos coming. Anyone grow peonies? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those flowers. I planted 2 3 years ago and I am hoping for blooms this season. Best thing about moving back North was all the flowers I could grow.

Cytojo, I have a few peonies and they took 3 years before they bloomed for me. This is the first year I got blooms. Mostly pink ones. I'll see if I can get a picture.

I love irises too. I have a few on the side of the house but my husband keeps knocking the buds off whenever her takes out the garbage. Very frustrating!

I love them all and the ones in your pictures are exceptionally lovely.

Most of the time I'm glad I don't have a yard (I'm allergic to grass and trees, to name just two things!) but when I see pictures like these...

Cytojo, here are the peonies. Like I said. First blooms in about 3 years. Although I bought them in bloom in a one gallon pot from Costco?!!

Tom44, I never thought I'd say this, but the fly looks so cute on the iris petal. I like the blue of the 2nd picture.

There are some nice pictures there. And after I first posted the three pics, some others came into bloom. I can't remember where they came from, but here they are.

I like that purple. Can't wait myself for the tubers I purchased last spring. I remember I chose some colorful stuff. They all made it up this year, so should see some blooms next year with a bit of luck.

I've found these things are pretty tough. I dug a bunch at my Pop's one summer. I planted about half of them later that year but the rest just sat outside in a plastic laundry basket for, dang maybe another 8 months. I finally got around to planting them and they did just fine.

Louisiana Iris

Sorry that it has taken so long. I have been shooting motorsport racing for 5 out of the last 19 days. Over 1800 photos to go through. Shot these tonight.

Louisiana Irises that I bought in St Augustine, Florida 4 years ago. Finally blooming.
