Roses Again!!!!

With my spring orchid flowers fading the roses at the garden are taking their place. I take between 25 & 30 pictures every volunteer day. Here are a couple of buds that I took yesterday. The orange one is, what I think, an exceptional picture.

Nice shots of those buds. I have a fondness for orange roses, too. When I was at the rose garden in San Jose, I took photos of Royal Dane, Sheila's Perfume and Typhoon, all in that orange-y color range. I envy you!

I just received a "Eden" climbing rose in the mail yesterday. I'm so excited to get it in the ground. It's the Old English type. I've already got a large area marked off waiting to be tilled so I can start Designing my very own Rose Garden..here's a link to the Eden. Eden Climbing Rose

Beautiful! I don't have full size roses anymore, but my minis are starting to bloom too.

PM sent to member to join roses geeks. Currently have 12 bushes, including a Queen Elizabeth rose that is going into its 18th year. She even survived the move from Jacksonville, Florida to Northfield, Ohio (zone 9 to zone 5).

How do you like Queen Elizabeth? Is she the regular grandiflora or a climber? There seems to be a strain out there that don't bloom too often, others do.

She is the grandiflora. She used to bloom more often, but I am happy that she is still alive. I uncovered the roses today (no more threats of frost) and it looks like I may have lost most of them (including Abraham Darby and Just Joey). I look closer tomorrow before I go racing. I may have to get new bushes. :-(

cytojo, I'm with you.. I lost 2 Don Juan Climbers this spring which was very upsetting. Damn Zone 5!!!!!!!!! By the way, Since you live in Macendonia (I think) There is an orchid show at the Sout Euclid Community Center next weekend April 26th and 27th. Strange hours though. Sat 11-5; Sun 10-4.

Jirel,
Queen E. gets really out here. I have seen one top 8 feet. It needs plenty of room to grow in warm climate.
