Tillandsia fasciculata and utriculata in bloom

These Tillandsia fasciculata and utriculata also called Cardinal Air Plants and Giant Wild Pine are all over my neighborhood. The last picture is the Tillandsia utriculata and it is the largest species of bromeliads in Florida. here are a few different 1's in bloom.

Nice pictures. While on a trip to Florida in the Port Charlotte area I noticed alot of those air plants. A lady at a plant store claimed they would grow just about anywhere on the trees, in fact if your dog laid still too long they would grow on it! I wanted to take some home to NC but when I laid a piece onto the coffee table a large colony of plant lice came off the thing! Had to leave it outside.

Yes in deed in certain areas you find these growing on just about anything that will support it. These larger air plants seem to have there own Eco system living in them.
