Sweet! I had a few hibiscus "Disco Belle" that I started from seed. They grew in the yard and were great- untill the winter of -30F plus wind chills.
My Mom has a nice double peach one in her house. I wish I had a bigger house! I have one inside at work (for my retired nuns.) They LOVE it! It's just a grocery store special, but they are crazy about it! Your plants are REALLY nice. Thanks for the pictures. They brightened up another dreary, cold day here.

Those are very pretty, Okianer. Are they tropicals or hardy Hibiscus?

Hey, I also have some hibiscus in my back yard.

I'll take pic of them, they are so beautiful when blooming, even birds can't get their eyes off it.

Th ecolor of my hibiscus is pink, red, yellow. they are separate plant though.

hang on there okay?
I'll take the pic now

Thanks Debbie,

I will try to get a better picture of the red one. That one is impressive as well but the light at the time I took the pic wasn't at the right angle. I cut some of the red flower and put them in a vas, I placed them by my pc. And when my husband came home and asked if the flower was real, I was laughing out loud because those were the flower that grow in our back yard and he didnt even notice that.

I let them grow in the plant for now because when they ready to bloom there are so many flower bud in one spike, so if I cut it when only one of them blooming it will waste the whole buds on that spike. I will wait until the last bud blooming then I'll cut it put it in a vas again.

This hibiscus is so easy to plant in my area. I just trimmed them about a month ago because they grew wildly. and now they start to bloom again and even with more buds...I am so happy...

I will try to take a pic when the bids "park" in my hibiscus, the birds are also colorful, some of them has a green color with a yellow spot. beautiful. but some are grey....

I'll keep you guys posted!

hello
yes they are tropical hibiscus,at my state we do not have this specis at flower shops, but I menage to get them from state near mine, but this sorts come from Tahiti, and as I know at former Yougoslavia only two people have this tropic, registeted, hibiscus for sale.

I also get some seeds from India, and I get from that seeds little plants now,but they have not flower yet, they are too small, meaby this spring.

I like most of everything to get plants from seeds

I wish I lived where I could grow them outdoors. Well, soon enough- (2-3 years) we should be able to buy a house. (we rent right now) I'll have more room for hibiscus as well as all my other plants! Yay!
I've enjoyed looking at all these beautiful pictures.-Thanks! It's 5F out right now- with below zero windchills. Yuk.

I have just one hibiscus that survived the winter but has not bloomed yet. Those are just so pretty. Okianer, I love the purplish one on the first post.

Next January when I'm in the Philippines I will take some pictures of the beautiful Hibiscus there. There some neat ones I've seen there. So many colors and shapes.

Hi, Okianer! Yes, my town is on the Hudson river. It was discovered by Henry Hudson who was in the ship, the Halfmoon. Hence the name. Discovered is an odd word, because there were native Americans already living here at the time.

I love your latest Hybiscus shots! They are so pretty! I'll have to get a shot of my Mothers' plant soon. It's a pretty orange double. Mine all died when my house froze a year and a half ago. We can't grow them outside year-round. Our winters get to -20F sometimes.(about -8C)

Okianer, do you grow all of yours in pots? They can get really tall and big. Do you just trim them to keep them small? Here where I live they can survive the winter once they are large enough. When they are small they sometimes die over the winter.
