| Due to my health issues recently I have been trying to make my beds easier to care for. Esp. the 2 prominent ones. I went out and bought 6 rose bushes, 4 of them climbers for the trellis to enter my yard. Problem? I know almost nothing about roses! I surounded these with my favorite bulbs and plan to intersperse with some Gazania since they bloom nearly year round here. Does this sound like a good quick fix. Any good tips on rose care? All help appreciated. I want those 2 beds to look nice this year while I hopefully get better. I have a feeling some french marogolds will re-seed themselves along the border of the bed. They are beautiful. Thanks, Gladys Last edited by Gladys47; 02-05-2008 at 09:53 AM. |

| Gladys I feed rose food twice a year and water daily in summer what I am hoping for is a member that grows roses in or near your location can help you with more answers about them. I like the sound of the bush roses and also the climbers with the other plants that should make a nice display for you and easy to maintain. with our roses I do however use chemicals on them for Aphids and thrip 1 I use id Rogour 2 I use is Melathon. ( a mask must be worn when using the sprays ) orchid girl try your local garden nursery's for one. I am not a certified to do so |

| For answers to rose questions go to the forum @ rosarianscorner.net The people there are just as friendly as the folks here. Also, for rose pictures you can go to HelpMeFind.com Rose, Peonies and Clematis They have pictures of more roses than you can shake a stick at. Orchid Girl, Double delight is a commonly available rose and you should be able to find it as a cheap price. Fred, I don't know what your summer weather is but roses generally preferr to be watered deeply less often rather than lightly more often but you might be doing it right for your climate. I am a volunteer supervisor at one of the largest gardens for old roses in the US. We don't spray and have gone organic for our fert. Topical compost sprays and soil treatments. If you want to see how a particular rose fares in the disease department one can come look before they go out and buy. We have 4500 roses, with 3500 different varieties. Largest all volunteer rose garden in the US. As you might sumize, I am very proud of this garden. Its located in San Jose, CA. Guadalupe Heritage Rose Garden. Guess I have rambled on enough. Good growing to all of you. |

| I have Double Delight too, and despite it is sitting not in the best location (my backyard heavily shaded by trees), it blooms like crazy every year - one of the best roses IMHO. N
