| rmt135, I grow a few roses and have never had that problem. Here in the southeast US it's blackspot and aphids. Our humidity is so high in the summer months that we have a very hard time keeping blackspot under control.

| Roses are like any other plant. Some get mites some don't. Aphids are more of a problem in our area. Also, in areas with high humditity, roses are suseptable to fungus problems. As a rosarian, my other hobby, I would go looking at rose gardens in your area, talk to friends and find out which roses they are growing & then find one that you like that is less suseptable to fungus problems. |

| Does everyone realize Desert Roses are more of a succulent and not a true rose at all. I do not find them to have any problems with growth from insects. they can rot if over watered but if kept pot bound that is not a problem and being a desert plant thy can go a long time without water.

| Oh, so purty! I like the two-toned ones...and they're my type of plants - can go without watering for several days. I have roses in the backyard. Every year, I find aphids on them. So we make a habit of putting ladybugs during spring and summer. That's in addition to spraying PharmSolutions.

| elitebettas web site is still a work in progress. One problem with being a professional programmer is I know what is possible and it is hard to settle for less. Orchid care and instructions will be in video. It is such a difference from still photos like here on the forum. You can explain so much more in a video. Just the photo gallery has 900 different species and hybrids with care instructions and unusual characteristics. I am afraid if I activate a partial web site I will not get around to doing it right. By the way worm tea sprayed on my roses eliminated aphids in one night. Desert Rose really come from the desert and can go a month or more without water. The only danger is rot if over watered, but if kept pot bound over-watering ceases to be a problem.

| You are right Debbie, I was referring to the thorny one & I will take up Hummer344 suggestion. I will relay all these info to my wife & I think she will revert to the original idea of planting roses. The roses sold here are quite cheap - $2.5 for a baby. Thanks everybody. |
