My zygo-cactus seedling

Finally!!! I'm learning to post pictures! Here's a close-up of one of my zygo-cactus seedlings, next to a ball-point pen tip. I'll post pictures of my orchids when I actually get one to flower.(I'm still new to orchids- I have 9 now...) My avatar is one of my catts., but I bought it in flower.

IS the seedling a cross you made or just a random seed from the mother plant

I made the cross 3 years ago. The parents were un-named. One was light orange in color and the other a butter yellow. It took about 2 years for the pod to mature. I then waited another year untill I had gotten married and moved so I would be able to baby-sit. I'm just winging it.

Impressive photos... and congrats on getting the techniques down... I know you were working up to posting photos and now you've done it! Nice job... and amazing that you've gotten your own seeds!

Patticake, that's wonderful. It's great to see results from a job you started from seed.

BTW: Love your avatar. I'm a sucker for pretty Catts.

Thanks, all! I have had 7 seeds sprout so far- Lost 3 early on. I think there was too much humidity and not enough light. I removed the clear cover and added flourescent lighting. I've got them on wick-watering. Some new seeds germinated(picture) and now I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It's not that I'm hoping for a great new variety or anything, I just want to bring them to maturity. I'll keep you posted. 2 years is a long time to wait. but, I'm patient.
Joan, Don't get too excited about my picture posting yet! My son had to come and help me. He's not thrilled with my computer. He's a program developer and knows his way around a computer, but had some choice words for mine! I couldn't have posted without his help, but I'll be taking more lessons from him in the future!

I don't mean to double-post, but- I'm so happy about my seedlings. They're still quite small, but hanging in there! I have just received 2 new phals! I didn't look for them, they just found me! A really nice one that was donated to the 250 retired nuns that I work for. It was put on the altar in their church for Christmas. It's a noid, but very sweet- and in a beautiful pot!
I'll post pictures when my son comes over to help me again!! I'll learn this for myself, I swear!!! The other phal was on a bargain table at Lowes... Don't know what it looks like, but it was $5.00 - I Like surprises!!

How exciting! I grow lots of things from seed for the garden and the house. I just love spring and the thrill of seeing a seedling poke it's head thru the compost. It's the same every year, the thrill never goes away!

I know how you feel! I've grown plants from seeds ever since I was a child. I never tire of it. I look forward to getting home everyday just to check them.
