I've joined The American Orchid Society!

I'm so excited! I received some money for Christmas and told to spend it on something just for me! I joined the AOS and can't wait to get the magazine! The rest of the money I'm saving for a spring trip to an orchid show where I can buy a new treasure or two!

I know just how you feel. I got a gift card to one of the nearby growers and ordered a Miltassia and a Beallara. Both are really beautiful and the excitement just keeps growing. My DH is upstairs now building new shelves because I'm running out of window space Guess I'll need more orchids to fill those shelves Thank you, Santa!!

Santa and I traded orchids this year, I gave her a to-be-determined-colour Phal, and a sunshine yellow mini-phalaenopsis with a single spike. She gave me a white Phal with one bud left to open, and a purple/blue Dendrobium (first non-Phal/Cymbidium for me!). Best christmas yet

Robb- It sounds like my kind of Christmas! I have 1 dendrobium that I got from a bargain table. (I'll be fussier in the future) I can't wait to see it bloom someday! It's still alive and looks healthy- I bought it inexpensively so that if I were going to kill it, it wouldn't be such a loss. I have hope at this point. Good luck with yours!

since they jacked up the dues, i've had my siblings pitch in together to get me my membership for xmas. they may need to reconsider the $$; membership has dropped some 25% in the last 4 yrs:

Average total distribution per issue during preceding 12 months (including free copies) of Orchids:

2004 = 24312
2005 = 22574
2006 = 20863
2007 = 18010, total sum.

ObOrchid: my nobile (obtained as a keiki over the summer) is starting *two* flower spikes! and a phal i've had for a few yrs that has never bloomed finally spiked--and *it's* producing 2 spikes too! -happy orchid dancing-
