Yellow Hibiscus

When I was in Hawaii last October, I couldn't help but notice all of the $2 plant cuttings available in the ABC stores (it's a 7-11 type store). I picked up some arundinia and hibiscus. So a little more than a year later, the hibiscus is 5 ft tall, and just bloomed for the first time!

That is a real beauty, Fabolusus.

I also have the yellow and the salmon Hibiscus along with the common red ones. They are very pretty.

Very nice photo.

Very lovely Fabolusus. I have a few varieties that I grow in my perennial
garden and they are my fall exhibitionists.

Beautiful. I have an orange variety which I purchased from the Fruit and Vegetable Exibition at Mumbai. It is one of the plants which require very little care. Only you have to give them lots of sunshine. Thanks.

I grew mine under HID lights, with no sunshine at all.

Fabulosus: Can't believe that you could bloom a hibiscus under lights. That's great. Beautiful yellow color - I only had one yellow one this year. It was a nice change from the coral and reds that I usually get. This year, I also found a peach colored one that started as orange-peach and gradually faded to a pinkish color.

Before this, it put out very deformed buds that always failed to open. I came very close to giving it away, but now I think I'll keep it!

i bought a pot of gypsy music on impulse a few yrs ago; discovered there were FOUR plants stuffed into a 4 inch pot.

i repotted them in 6 inch pots and they continue to grow on my deck in a western exposure. they're in the kitchen for the winter now. very showy, but aphid hotels.

hibiscus bestsellers (the pink & white variety)

wow! that is 'pure' yellow.

I have never seen one like that without at least some colour at the base or the filaments or anthers.

Thanks for posting.
