| New Plant Hi Everyone, I went out and bought a new plant today and of course there is no name on the tag. Can anyone tell me the name and care of this plant? I couldn't pass this up because I think it is beautiful. Thanks, Mercedesladie DSCN0748.jpg |

| It is a type of elephant ear, I believe. I think it is the variety Alocasia sanderiana. You can go to this link for a little more info: http://www.botany.com/alocasia.html

| They do give a general explaination on how to take care of it. i have never actually had one though But make sure not to let any pets eat it. From what I remember growing up (grandmother telling me) they can make animals sick.

| I can't think of the name right now....brain freeze but just take note, this plant is a perennial. I've always referred to this plant as 'elephant ears.' It's a tropical plant and will continue to grow new leaves every year. I've got one that doesn't know how to do anything other than get bigger and bigger every year. I used to throw these out when the leaves died away. This last one, I put in a corner and forgot about it until the following Spring when it woke up! I've had it now for 4 years. Lots of water, dormant in winter. It also grows lily-like looking flowers on separate stems. |
