Back from a trip, and I have lots of plant pictures :) So this past month I spent in richmond and three weeks at twin oaks www.twinoaks.org, a commune I'm hoping to live in (hopefully within the next month) but the flowers there were amazing, so without further ado, here's some pics to oggle over These are flowers a group of us cut from the Ornamental Flower Garden, they sell them at the Farmers Market in Charlottesville each weekend. Close up of some of the flowers for sell, I believe they called the pink one in the foreground a spider flower There were tons of these in the garden, they called them Catacombs (and I think they sold them $0.75 per stem, not to bad imo) More flowers for selling The entrance to the herb garden A flower in the herb garden, this one was HUGE at least 6" in diameter An arch in the herb garden The cutting bed, it's in the middle of the herb garden, and you can go and cut flowers for your room, hair, whatever you want, at anytime, it was really nice having freash flowers in my room almost daily A statue in the cutting bed One of the flower beds along a path This leave was over two foot tall Asparagus!! One of the veggie gardens early in the morning, I was up at six thirty taking care of the chickens most mornings, so I got to see some gorgeous sunrises over the fieldsThat's it for now -Chowder

EC, that looks beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed your time there! I love hearing about really successful communal living experiences. Keep me posted when you go back, I'd love to hear more!

Joan, that's just what I did Mercedes, I most certainly will keep you all updated PhalPal, It was a beautiful morning, but the fog and dew was so heavy it sounded like it was raining, and I was not wanting to get out of bed that early and have to feed the chickens that early They have a labor system there, and I get labor hours for working with all the flowers I should hear from them in less than a week about if/when I can live there -Chowder ps. I have pics to post from the Richmond botanical as soon as I can get back on my own computer

| Are you allowed to have computers at the commune ? Some don't allow it. If you go there, maybe you can introduce them to the best flowers on this earth..........ORCHIDS !

Anton, they do allow computers, infact many of the houses have wireless and they have a T-1 connection, plus 10 or so public computers that anyone can use. I am also hoping to introduce them to some more orchids, a few members have one or two, but while there I really want to learn how to breed and make different crosses. The best part is they have a sister community (Acorn) right down the road that has a seed business, so they should have most of the necessary equipment and conditions for it Pikevi, there are people there from all over the world If/when I move there, you all will be getting tons of flower pics as all the seasons change
