Stargazer

This is growing by my pond in front of the house. It is about 6' tall. It's big brother/sister recently went out of bloom and was pushing 7' in height. Hidden in there somewhere are two small white spiders. It is nifty to see nature at work with the camoflage, but where did they come from??

Beautiful flowers, slippery_biscuit.

I have good eyes but I tried very hard to see if I can locate the spiders: no luck.

If you know where they are please let us know

Mimicry and camouflage are the best evolved defence and offence (predation) in animals.

That is a superb plant. I am not good on lilies, ( assuming it is a lily ), please ID it. The spiders are very difficult to see. I believe the spider is a crab spider ' Misumena vatia ' belonging to a group that rely on camouflage to ambush prey, usually on flowers. Thanks for the post .

Thanks for the info BillC.

I just hope the two are hiding behind the flowers

Even after looking at your picture I still can't find them...
