tropicals

The tropical plants are gradually starting to bloom.

The Ixora and the Nerium have bloomed. So has one of the Passifloras.

This is the second year for the grapes and it is bearing fruits. I hope they are sweet

I also moved all my Cattleyas and Oncidium outdoor and they are placed about 2 metres above the ground level.

I will monitor the intensity of the sun and , if needed move them under an apple tree.

Love those grapes pikevi! Are you going to make cattinis for all of us when they ripen? When I lived in California, every summer we would go to the northern part of the state to the 'wine country' and do wine-tasting. I'm a light-weight and can get buzzed from just the fumes but great memories of a beautiful part of the earth. I call it heaven on earth.

Your growing arrangement is spectacular. Is this in your backyard? Are you still using your portable GH? Where do you have your orchids come winter? Also, how are your flasked orchids doing?...fingers crossed for you.

Thanks robb, Tobi and sandra.

Yes, all passiflora flowers are very strange. I believe they are very colourful under normal as well as UV light.

Yes Sandra, it is part of the backyard. I will be moving the GH to another location shortly. In winter the plants come inside and occupy the basement and a room.

I lost one set of deflasked orchids. The other one seems OK but I am not sure what will happen on the long run. Will update the post re them.

Two of my good friends live in Lafayette,CA ( quite North, I believe). They are coming here for a visit on the 30th inst. Have not seen them in 4 years.
I hope I will have time for them or may be orchids will take precedence over their needs

Pikevi, those are beautiful plants and flowers ...I wish I had a backyard where I can do the same.. not much room here.

You sure have a green thumb..seems for me I don't have time for anything else besides orchids , I only do enough not to let my house be overgrown by weeds, but barely anything else growing here is as spectacular as yours...how do you do that ?

Love the Passiflora! I've been thinking about growing some in the backyard, but not sure if I'll have the time since I spend most of it with my youngest daughter and, of course, my 'chids.

You have a wonderful arrangement there. I wish hubby was crafty, as I would like a set up similar to yours.

Btw, I live about 45-50 minutes away from Lafayette. Maybe you can send some orchids my way via your friends...

Thanks prisana & arleneg.

I think I am lucky with plants.

It is a bit of hardwork, prisana. My wife just appreciates what I accomplish: that is it I think orchids take a big chunk of the available time and I hope it will get less and less as I get more experience.

arleneg: Even without any kids I find it hard to cope with orchids and other plants( I also have many other hobbies) so I can understand how hard is it for you.

I think in your area Passiflora will just grow wildly. You probably have to just water it.

I stared to pack a few orchids and some tropicals then I remembered the CITES . I wonder why my nose keeps growing???

Pikevi, your talent with plants of all sorts is really showing. Great healthy, happy plants! I hope everyone that comes to your home gushes over your capabilities. Just gorgeous. ....

Thank You , chefatplay.

Yes, some do appreciate the flowers and plants. Many are surprised that they survive the winter since I don't have a proper green house

I lose a few occasionally. This year I lost two waterlily tubers (Nymphaea)after three years. I had to buy new plants this year.
