| african violets
has anyone ever had any experience using an african violet pot (it has two parts, one you fill with water and you sit a partial unglazed pot down in that so water gets soaked up slowly into the soil). I picked up a couple at a tag sale over the weekend, and transplanted one of my violets in to it. I've had the violet for about two years now (and it's only bloomed once :/ ) so hopefully this may help. any advice, thoughts, comments, rants about these pots? thanks! |

We've been growing African Violets in these type of pots for nearly 20 years and they do very well. There's little damage to the leaves or crown from water, because of the wick action of the pot and the fact that you don't need to water from the top. Every few years, the soil is refreshed; the bottom container can be cleaned of lime deposits any time you wish. Normally, we keep a container of water with the fertilizer added. Makes watering a snap. I'm sure you'll enjoy the convenience of these pots. |
