| Seeds sown and repotting houseplants
Today, I sowed seeds for a couple of plants I want to grow. The first is European Holly (Ilex aquifolium), it is not the most unusual plant, but from what I have read growing these from seed can be a challenge. They have spent the last year stratifying in the refrigerator and I have sown them today. The other plant I sowed was Drosophyllum luscitanicum (Portuguese Dewy Pine) after a couple months of stratification, this is another carnivorous plant and is really pretty interesting. Both of these plants can take 6 months to a year to germinate, so I am still in the long haul on both of these plants. Fingers crossed for germinations!
I also replanted my Amaryllis Red Lion bulb, hopefully I will have blooms in a couple of months (I know I did this one kind of late, but I finally got around to it today).
I am going to be repotting my Portulacaria afra (Baby Jade Plant) into a bigger container. My landlord wants me to repot her Pothos plant into a hanging basket, so I am going to take care of that today, as well as another plant that I have no idea what it is. Maybe I will post a picture and you guys might be able to ID it.
Kind of boring stuff, but I am excited about the seeds, it is a long term project and I hope it works out.
PS, if I get more than one germination on the Drosophyllum seeds, I would be interested in exchanging plants for a seedling, but I would have to limit any possible exchanges to people I can drive to. These plants have such fragile root systems that they will not survive shipping, this is why you rarely, if ever, see them for sale.
