Every year we get some poinsettias I think about growing one year round till next Christmas. Then I read about the amount of work that is needed to get the leaves to show color again and I end up throwing the plant in our compost pile.

Very pretty, I guess this is showing ignorance on my part, but I always thought that Poinsettia was the scientific name, you learn something new everyday. Last year I had intended to 'rebloom' mine, but over the course of the summer it dried out too much one day and it died. I might have been able to revive it, but even if I could it would have looked too scraggly, so I composted it. I didn't even get one this year, not enough room for one. Anyways, yours is very nice looking.

i sometimes get one; one year, i got one and just treated it like a houseplant and it actually produced some color the next year.

then it died.

it's always cool when i go to key west and see them blooming in people's yards like azaleas.
