Epiphyllum oxypetalum-Queen of the Night

My Epi finally decided to bloom! This was its first flower; the plant itself is giant, about 5ft tall, and the flower was over 12 inches wide! It started opening at 9pm, and if you sit nearby, you can observe the petals slowly unfurling. It has a pretty strong scent, not unpleasant but not too lovely either. By the next morning it was spent. I haven't been able to bloom this plant for 7 years, and I'm not sure what caused it to finally bloom...but I'm glad it did!

Congrats on the first blooming!!
Its beautiful I've never seen one before.
I wonder if it just takes that long for them to be mature enough to bloom.

Congratulations! First blooms are so exciting. That is one of my favorite plants, I have had one for a couple of years and I am still waiting for my first flower. I have read that they like to be pot bound before they will bloom.

The plant can get massive, are you letting yours climb on something?
