I don't know how cold they can go but is there anyway to wrap frost cloth around them? I have left my chids out near freezing up until recently but they were wrapped up in frost cloth and then bed sheets. I also put a lamp under the tables in increase the warmth. Just thought I'd throw some ideas out there. Shann~ |

Getting the cold snap up here as well. Had to haul my outside growers in today. Then they can't go back outside till Wednesday. Shouldn't complain too much, as this is the first time this winter, but still (sigh) it is such a pain. Sorry no idea about the Epiphyllums.

I'm bumping this. Anyone? Now it is to be mid to upper thirties. I've left them out. Tomorrow they say "hard freeze." Darn it. Those and others will have to come in tomorrow. Was really hoping for no freezes this year. |

I know they are good down to 40 degrees but taking to them to the low 30's would make me a little nervous. I'd bring them into a sheltered area.

I have several beautiful epiphhylums that have survived temperatures in the mid to low 30s for years. They hang in baskets outside and I have never brought them in and never had any die. They bloom wonderfully every year. I just cut back on the watering every winter, watch the shriveled "leaves" with trepidation and then breathe a sigh of relief when it warms up. Water expands when it freezes, I always tell myself so I make sure not to fill the plant with water if it is going to be cold. They are cacti, they know how to do this.
