Summer blooms in the yard

Some of these have come and gone already, but this is an assortment of what we've enjoyed the past couple of months.

Summer blooms in the yard-stapelia-yellow-flower.jpg This is a pretty little flower but it is like the star cactus. It smells and attracts flies.

Summer blooms in the yard-post-with-bird-house.jpg last year I showed this (newly completed) with an orchid basket on top to hold plants. The Mandeville around the post froze. It came back but I've moved it to the short neighbors fence. Or the neighbor's short fence. Whatever!! Anyway... still a work in progress! And I've got an idea!!

Here are a few more.
I'm pretty pleased to have my pitcher plant "blooming" again. It did not last year. It really likes to be wet and we have had a ton of rain. I have tried to root it and no luck.

Summer blooms in the yard-dancing-girl-ginger-purple-2.jpg This is another dancing girl ginger. I really like this one too. They are dormant so many months. Then they pop up, bloom and thrill you, then disappear back into the ground.

Hi Lynne!!
Very nice blooms you've had
I like the ginger. Is that the same one you sent me some seed of last year ?? I hadn't planted it yet, I want to but don't know when the best time to is. How big do they get so I can plan where to plant them.... The other cacti and suCclents you sent are growing well also this past year
.
Thank you
Emmaye

Emmaye, those seeds are for the yellow dancing girl. They only get about a foot tall. They need shade. When I planted the seeds in a used annual tray I marked it to remember. They did nothing for several months and came up around April or May when the plant usually comes out of dormancy. I need to start gathering seeds from the current blooms. The purple one does not put out seeds like the yellow one does.

Ziggy is a dudette. We call him Mr. Priss. He set his parameters with Pup with one solid wallop. He should have done the same with Bobo. Bobo (unfortunately) goes after him and Ziggy screams like a cat fight. I have to intervene. Bobo definately is biitng because there is fur. They are front declawed. I think he does it because he gets such a reaction. But he has been more aggresive since pup. Pup aggravates him to no end but he stays around and keeps taking it despite my intervention. I'm thinking he is then taking it out on Ziggy. It's not a whole "happy scene." Plus we are losing the bobo quirks and he has changed some.
Well, onto a more happy scene. A few more shots. We also have the basic annuals and some azaleas, hibiscus, begonias, creape myrtle, etc. but those are pretty basic flowers. Didn't want to bore you completely.
