Beautiful Emmaye!! I just bought a couple a couple of weeks ago that are from cuttings, Im trying to figure out what to plant them in, and how to trellis them. Looks like you may have a good idea there. How big is the pot? and will you keep it in a pot or in the ground?

Hi cyndi,
This one is in the pot size on the lable with a pic of it I'm going to transplant it into one 3 times that size with a trellis like my other one. I'm not sure the gal size but it may be a 4 or 5 gal pot used in nurserys for trees. I have a few of these pots they were dumping at a construction site I worked 3 years ago. (With permission to take them of course ) . I will post a pic of the old one for you later no light right now its 3am here just got home from work but will show you how I will set this one up this week using my old one as an example. My old one pardon it it had a rough winter even covering it its working on poping back the leaves are a bit small compared to last year and lighter colored. I'm thinking I may need to shelter it better and give it a bit more shade this year . Right now it gets full morning sun. I may move them both under a tree out back this year/summer.so give me a few hrs this afternoon I'll take some pics. Of it for you. And post pics of the new one when I get it potted and untangled and woven into the new trellis (delicate job).
Thanks for checking it out
Emmaye

OMG Emmaye! That is huge and spectacular!! I love it! Still have my eye out for a red one. I found another Passiflora incarnata at Home Depot for $7, and you know I had to snatch it up!

i just love these plants, they are so beautiful, i just picked up my first, a red one, last week
here in NW Ohio they must be grown indoors for the majority of the year, so they take some time to get big. mine is still very small, but if you cannot find one, i would be happy to send you cuttings.

nice find, Emmaye! i have the same one here but let me warn you - this kind is highly invasive. if you want a wall covered quickly, this is the one to do it. just make sure you have enough room for it - it inundates everything.

if you feel it needs a haircut after a few years growing, don't be afraid to give it a haircut. take it down and leave a foot of original growth from the ground. the new growth will be just as vigorous. only way to keep it in check.

and you'll love the butterflies that come w/ this plant

No, our home depot never has anything like that at all. I had a heart attack when I saw that our home depot actually had the incarnata.

Hi Cyndi,
Here are pics of (5 gal planter) old passion flower is in and a shot of the trellis and a bloom. Forgive its ratty appearance its coming back after a hard winter even covered when the frost hit it suffered. I will bring in next winter to the garage. leaves are very small this year on it and cutting back the pine tree for the huge bird of paradise it gets more direct sun not thinking it likes the full sun (even if its only morning sun). So adjustments to be made. When the new one blooms I will post pics
Thanks Cyndi

It might be crazy to find a box to ship one this size to you. How do you root cuttings? I can try that and send you some that way....

Thanks for the heads up and advice eventually when I get settled somwhere I may put them in the ground. Right now I grow in D gal pots and trellis to try and contain them they do get crazy trying to grab everything with their tendrils. I try to keep up re winding into the trellis. Which with my old one I need to do again every few days it does this lol. I need to get a taller trellis for the honeysuckle (spelling?) Also.
Thanks Amersault

You are too kind. I think I am at MAX capacity with my incarnata right now...so I don't need to add any more. The incarnata has spread and is popping up. I guess that's why it's called Maypop..comes up in May and pops up everywhere.

Let me know if you can't find one at home depot or anywhere, if I can figure out how to grow some from cutting ill send you some already rooted and ready to go. So if some one can help me with growing from cutting on these ???? I've no clue how......
