These are the last of the front yard shots. Got more blooms coming soon though of different bulbs. Accidentally got 2 sam of the giant blue and whit bird of paradise in this one. This thing is as tall as our house now. I had to cut back the pine tree to make room for it to poke through lol. (Mom thought it was a bananna tree when she planted it there years ago)
Ok next shots are the fruits in the back yard and one vine

ooooooh the birds!!! Love love loveeee love, did I mention I LOVE birds of paradise?? ha ha ha. I just got two passion fruit plants myself. One had two blooms on it, but one fell off. I need to figure out how to plant mine and where to put it.

Totally love the photos you have up here so far though. You have a pretty garden, I see we have very similar tastes in plants.

Hey Emmaye, do your birds of paradise get full or partial sun? Im looking at getting a couple of plants, that havent bloomed at all in the two years this woman has had them. If i got them I would definately want them to bloom for me. She has had them on a shady deck.

Hi Emmaye:

You certainly have a lot of interesting plants blooming now. Although I live in the Caribbean I think it is the first time I have seen a blue and white bird of paradise. Lovely!

Heather

Ours are planted in the front yard under a pine tree get partial morning sun so east here. They are planted on the edge of our lawn so top soil and clay and with the pine tree added later has made the soil slightly acidic. Dont think its the best culture but they thrive. Now my next door neighbor, his are in a decorative rock planter. Box with a sandy soil mix no trees. To shade them and get full morning sun (east). And for every one of my blooms he has like 5 so mines very wimpy I've been thining about digging them up and moving them over the small ones I mean. I'd probably kill the monster one (blue and white) if I tried to dig it up. They also get the run off of fertilizer we use on the porch plants they seem to be real happy about that. Not much else grows well under the pine tree some misc. Succlents and cacti. Spider plants etc. But try the way my neighbor has his set up. If yours are shaded gradually move them out but where the morning sun for a few hrs a day is.
Good luck
Emmaye

I will try and get a few shots off. Our whole yard is a work in progress especially in the back yard. The front yars has the most plants right now. I'm in the process of still clearing out wood piles and dealing with the old pond to put up a gazebo and re designing the yard space. My grand parents had with age let a lot of stuff go and pile up before they passed and my mom didn't do much at all with it all over the years. When I lived in sac I use to come down just to work when shed let things go and so ok I'm ready for that to be done. She had a rough time with letting go of her parents things and left over projects. But now that I'm there I try to do as much as I can being I a one woman wrecking crew and re do it. So weather permitting the past couple years she gave me the green light to do some major projects. So the transformations are just beginning . Breaking up the patio cement squares all lifted by tree roots and earth quakes is going to be the back breaker for sure lol. And re do the concrete. The squares are like 4' by 3' and 4 to 5 inches thick very heavy. But the areas I have set up I will shoot some shots of
Thanks for your interest Lynne
I'm anticipating the fruits in the last 3 shots. Pomagranets my grandmother use to make the best jelly!!!
