oooooooooo bird of paradise!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait, I am going to get one this summer!!!! they grow so well here, that in the medians between the roadway by the airport, they have these all over and they are so huge. I have always loved these blooms. When you grew it from a seed, how long did it take to finally get to flowering stage?

I wasn't very good at growing them initally - so it took a good 8 years. I kept in in too small a pot and didn't get it enough light. Now it spends the whole summer outside as soon as the night temps are over 10C and I play chicken with the weather at the end of the year trying to grab those last few days before it dips below ten again. I lost this year - one night just a bit too cool killed a couple of flower buds.

Very nice, we have them in the garden and one of my favorite flowering plants.
Lot of patience to take 8 years looking after to flower

basalt, Maybe you can help me out here. I am looking at a couple of birds of paradise plants, and I was wondering if you could tell me if they look like they are close to blooming size? Plant-giant birds of paradise | Household for sale on Okinawa bookoo! I would prefer to keep it in a pot, but I would move it into the front yard so it would get mostly full sun all day long. Do they like space for their roots, or to be kinda potbound? I definately would so appreciate your thoughts since you have WAYYY more experience than I. Thanks so much.
