Medinilla Magnifica ---excited!!

This is my good old Medinilla. It's a plant from the Phillipines with impressive blooms. They are also epiphytes, that should attract you orchidlovers! They seem to have some tight growing schedule. From the leafbase come two new leaves, and from that new leafbase one flower, then two leaves, and so on. Gets bigger pretty quickly that way!
This one rejected its newforming leaves, but seems to hold on to the schedule and is now producing blooms. Quite mathematical.

Teenytiny

Bit blurry, early morning and cloudy weather..not ideal. Btw, I noticed just now they need a little dusting

Welcome SarinahL and thank you for the pictures. I always like seeing other plants. Can't say that I have run across this one in my many hours/days of surfing plant sites.

Thank Mike for the picture of flowers. Very nice.

HA! In the first pic I was looking at the pink bloom plant and thinking..."D*** if that doesn't look like a Cym". 2nd pic I figured out I was looking at the wrong plant. DUH!

The medinilla is cool looking...I've never seen one but it kind of reminds me of a fiddle leaf fig. Thanks for sharing.

WHOA! Just opened Mike's link...GORGEOUS! I can see why it's one of your favorite plants.

@katrina haha...y'know, I actually decided against mentioning that it's the plant on the right, thought it would be such a snobby and obvious thing to do on an orchid forum

The little bulbs are actually the little flowers, but the surrounding leaves also turn pink, so it looks like gigantulastic blooms. Pretty impressive.

It was blooming when I bought it, this will be the first time it will bloom after that.

SarinahL ~ thanks for sharing and how's your plant doing now? Did you enjoy the blooms & how long did they last?
