Zygocactus Fuchsia & Red

The Christmas Cactus Plant in Red and Fuchsia
These plants are members of the Zygo-cactus family. Most of which are native to Central and South America. Although these plants are called cacti, they are truly different in all aspects from the common desert cactus with which we are all familiar. These plants are epiphytes and found in the same environments as orchids

Although stunning (!!!!!!) these are actually not orchids so I've moved them out of the "Orchid Hybrid Photos" section and into the "Other Plants" section.

Aren't they pretty? Your's are just packed full of blooms!

Do you know my parents have one they got on their wedding day and it's now 43 years old? Just wow!! It's red like the one in your first photo.

Beautiful plant. I wish I could hang mine inside like yours, but, alas thats not to be. I just picked up another one bringing my total to 4. One I rescued from my mother and is approx 20 years old. According to the Sunset Garden book they are in the Schulmbergera family. Mine started blooming just prior to Halloween. attached is a picture of two blooms. (not from the same plant)

I love these guys! I have been able to make hundreds of cuttings for my friends, they root so easily, sometimes in the air too, like you said.
I also collect other types of "orchid cactus" or epiphyllums.

About 5 years ago I was in HD and noticed they were having a sale on small xmas cactus in 5 colors - pink, purple, white, red and yellow. I bought 2 of each color and 2 of the biggest hanging containers they had. I planted one of each color in each container and they are now monstrous and an absolute riot of color when they bloom. Don't know how I'm going to repot them, though.
