Surprise bloom in my garden, December 1

This year, I planted a bunch of bulbs in my new garden. I've never planted bulbs before, and I went a bit mad over all the pretty flowers. Decided to wait until the peonies arrived, so I didn't get to planting until mid-November, including some autumn-blooming crocus. Package said they bloom Sept-oct, so I didn't expect to see anything until next fall.

December 1 was 57 degrees here, and I found this surprise!

Unfortunately, it's 30 degrees here today, so I didn't even venture out to see if they are even alive.

I've never heard of autumn blooming crocus!! They are very hardy plants (crocus) and will probably survive the cold.

Not the greatest timing with winter upon you. But I always like seeing things pop up in the yard and surprise me.

I love autumn-blooming crocus and colchicum - now I need more...
