coffee

I got this as a gift from a friend. It's an espresso cup with cafea arabica plants. Not sure on what culture it needs. I keep it moist and giving it phalaenopsis light initially. I will read a bit and adjust if needed.

That's a nice looking plant - I might have to seek one out around here!

Looks like a pot full of seedlings rather than a single plant. If you can get them to fruit, I don't think you'll ever need to sleep again.

That's a really nice gift!
My concern would be if that cup is designed like a pot with drain holes..... Careful watering it. I remember my grandmother had a coffee plant once if I recall I don't think it got enough light she kept it in the house. Think plantation : )

Coffee grows into a large-ish shrub/tree. I have about 10 in the yard. Every year my hubby tells everyone that he is going to make coffee from the beans, but I'm still waiting (it's a long process).

I planted a heap of beans like this last year, all crowded togethter, and they stayed like this for about 9 months, sort of dormant. I potted them up a few months ago and they are growing well. I give them to visitors (whehter they want one or not)

Just a warning though- coffee plants don't like to dry out. If the leaves droop down, they don't usually revive very well (or at all).

I would pot these up in spring, and eventually plant them in the garden.

I have replanted them and put them by the south window to get as much light as possible. They were about a dozen of plants. When they will grow in their woodsawing pots i will pot them in bigger pots without needing repotting.

Dokmai Garden is on a distinguished road
Here in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand (+12 to +42°C, altitude 350 meters) we grow Coffea arabica in the shade under a big longan tree. We give it water also during the dry season, and if produces blossom and red fruits regularly. I try Coffea robusta too, which is more hardy to hot and wet climate.

Good luck!

Eric, Dokmai Garden, Chiang Mai
