Wow! and Wow. Gorgeous, I have 2 Bromelias, one gives to me and one bought in Penn. Bought it in the fall, put it in the car and what do you suppose, those 3 sets of buds fried in my closed car in 30 minutes. Such a pretty plant though.

I'll enjoy your Stelios, thanks.

sorry to hear you fried it in the car. I am not familiar with bromeliads, all i know is you put water so ti stays in the leaves and it is supposed to be easy to care for. I am not looking to expand to bromelias collection but this one is quite stunning. The flower is huge about 20cm and it is supposed to last for a long time.

Beautiful flower. I have lots of bromeliads in my yard. They have taken the place of annuals. Not only are their flowers pretty but I have a bunch whose leaves are the attraction. They are easy to take care of as you say. Florida weather is perfect for them.

i am sure it is perfect there. Here it's a bit dryer and the sun can really burn a plant if you don;t shade it.

That looks like an Aechmea fasciata.

I have a heap of broms. They are quite fascinating, like architectural masterpieces. And they multiply into clumps pretty quickly.

according to the tag it is a hybrid Aechmea Primera. The tag also states that it is patented and propagation is prohibited.

Hi Stelios, I think that once you own the plant you can propagate to your hearts content so long as you do not make a business by offering the propagated plants for sale. You might ask in your local nursery about the legality of the situation.

i wan't thinking of it, i just found it strange that on the name tag it had 4 patent numbers and a legal notice. I mean i know that in modern time you can actually patent DNA but i find it a bit silly to own the rights for a living thing. I was watching a documentary with farmers that could not keep part of their crop so they would have to buy again from the crop companies.
