A couple of Gingers and a funky moth

The first is Butterfly Ginger. It is my first bloom since getting a piece from my neighbor/friend two years ago. I see it growing in roadside ditches. Its smell reminds me most of a gardenia.

Blue Ginger - I recall from last year it does not open all at once but starts from the bottom but they fade as it goes up the stalk. I wanted to capture it for a picture before I leave for five days

I started to pluck this guy off a Phal. thinking it was a dead leaf. This is his back end. I touched him to see if he'd open his wings. He did briefly and I saw a tiny fan of yellow on his leg and he had big brown eyes, then he flew off.

A beautiful bloom! I'm not sure I'd call the moth cute, but it sure is big!

Very cool blooms!

The moth made me think of a stingray, but then I read it was his hind end! Cute!

Hi Lynne, I missed the moth the first time you posted but glad to have the pic now. It is a brilliant camouflage if the moth settles in fallen leaves. Great pic!

Bill, there was a moth that was quite pretty I posted elsewhere. (I'd have to look) but it had pink/orange and brown wings when spread. I haven't seen either of these before that I recall.
