unknown plant

Does anyone know what this might bee?
It was given to me as a very special Phalaenopsis orchid that would not bloom.
I immediately had my doubts on it being an orchid at all but have no ide on what it actually is. After a couple of months it is now blooming.
I showed the pictures around and some people recognized it as a "dust broom" but googeling that did not get a real name.
Anyone having a clue what this might be?

Looks like something in the haemanthus family- a type of lily. So it's not an orchid (the leaves do look like one though).

I have seen this plant before but can't recall (for the life of me) what it's name is. Hopefully someone in the know will come along soon.

"Haemanthus albiflos" seems to be correct.
Thanks tansyflower.
